Squeezecenter is using it and you wrote a Squeezecenter addon. So why not implementing it? I did some research with a db viewer. The ARTISTSORT information is stored in the contributors.namesort attribute, for example as "AMOS TORI". You just have to order your table by the namesort attribute. I tried to change your script but it didn't work. It should be easy for you.
