I am the proud owner of 3 wired Squeezeboxen V1. The built-in FLAC support (soon to also include non-DRM WMA?) is a real gem and the SqueezeNetwork sounds neat, but I am not sure my wallet has the appetite for a $600 upgrade. Perhaps this has already been covered, and if so, I apologize in advance...
Given the assumption that the VFD, case, and power supply represent a significant portion of the per unit cost, and further assuming that the SB2 PCB could support the older lower resolution display and a SB1 PCB could (easily) be replaced with a SB2 version by the end-user (i.e. same form factor, same connectors, same power supply).... does SlimDevices plan to offer PCB upgrades so us SB1 saps can ease our servers from some of the transcoding burdens (and related gaps in streaming)? I know the new VFD is higher resolution but that is of little value to me. The built-in decoding is highly desirable. -- bishopdonmiguel _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
