It appears Logitech will probably drop the Transporter sooner or later. A major part of the cost of the TP must be the case, displays and feedback knob.
But Logitech still own the design for the TP's mainboard, and knocking those out surely couldn't be that expensive. I wonder if there might be a market for barebones TP mainboards? The buyer would just need to source their own case. The only thing you'd be missing would be 192kHz capability. (But pardon me if I say that wouldn't bother me - 96kHz is plenty enough). They might even think about OEM'ing them to HiFi manufacturers with better street cred as a way to try and leverage Squeezebox Server into a dominant position as the server end of things - which can only be good for their own hardware sales. Come to think of it, they should also OEM the Squeezebox Receiver mainboard for the same reasons. -- cliveb Transporter -> ATC SCM100A ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71613 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
