I don't think disabling AAC is a solution as it will already be disabled on ReadyNAS (check WebUI Settings/Advanced/Filetypes- the solution is for SBS not to ask for AAC if it can't support it or at least not have AAC as the first choice.
That said, I don't think AAC disabled is full answer to the problem especially as GrooveSalad is not working for you. I was trying to test to recreate your problem and I found that WMA native had also to be disabled to get the problem.
