Not at all - I am a little out of touch - I currently use SB2's and Classic and I have some Slimp3's which I no longer have connected - it was the Slimp3's which got me interested in these products and I have evangelized them ever since.
I will most likely update the latest versions at some time but for me it is all working really well. You can assign playlists to alarms.
