TV's have bandwidth dedicated for that. (It was in the Vertical
Blanking Interval for NTSC, but part of the datastream for Digital).
Radio doesn't have that at all, and Internet radio depends on the
station providing that data. Some do, some don't.

For those that do and that RadioTime or Live365 or whatever support,
yes, you get now playing. These can be buried as part of the stream and
displayed by the SB, or in some cases you can do things like find all
stations playing NPR's All Things Considered, and how far into the
program they are (due to timezones and local schedules, you can tune
into All Things Considered anywhere from I think 1pm Pacific (4pm
Eastern) until 7pm Pacific (10pm Eastern).. it may actually be wider
than that.

Most of those are not stations like terrestrial radio stations: there
is no list of Pandora stations, they are all generated dynamically.
Same with Last.FM. Live Music Archive only plays what you ask it to and
there are THOUSANDS of shows. Slacker may be dynamic as well... there
really is no "now playing" for them unless you're, well, playing
something.
