Unfortunately the year attribute is not well defined and is used
inconsistently. Some people put the release year of the album here (this
is also what happens when you tag your files with MusicBrainz Picard),
while others use it for the year when the particular track has
originally been released (which is what I prefer). Normally both will be
the same, but it makes a difference for compilations, for example.

I don't even know where the album year is taken from. I guess it's
either from the first track the scanner happens to encounter, or the
from the year attrbute of track 1.

Btw., there's a similar problem with album artwork. While it is
possible to attach different images to each track (I actually did that
for some whitesleeve vinyl singles, where I tagged the tracks with a
scan of the center label from side A or side B, respectively), SBS will
just pick one of the images and apply that to the whole album.

The funny thing is that if there is at least one album displayed, there
is also an "All Tracks" button which in fact shows all the tracks from
that year, including those not from one of the listed albums.

So the actual bug is that the "All tracks" button is omitted when there
are no albums shown.

Yes, having a closer look at the Custom Scan plugin is already on my to
do list. I'm just a bit scared that I might have to re-tag all of my
18000 tracks for optimal results. :)
