Almost all of what the SB1/2/3 do is done through software; there's really not much to the hardware (hence the "Slim" in "Slim Devices"). So follow the Squeezebox Server threads, and you'll see what there is to see.
Basically, they're not really doing anything that's specific to the old units -- you're not going to get a new visualizer from Logitech, I don't think -- but the new capabilities they introduce work on all forms of Squeezeboxen whenever possible with hardware.
