Thanks for the reply. I'm changing the tags, filenames and directory
names also.

Another good example is 'unknown artists' - vortexbox doesn't always
match on tags so I have an album ripped as unknown artist which then
gets converted to mp3, I'll then re-tag etc. this but not normally prior
to the cronjob running, have just checked the mp3 folder and there are 6
'unknown artists' albums :)

I'm guessing my options are

1) When editing flac files that rename folders/filenames then duplicate
and update mp3 files as well
2) Periodically re-mirror the entire flac collection to keep in sync
3) Don't run flac2mp3 as often to make sure I've edited the tags
correctly
4) Turn off vortexbox auto ripping and use dbpoweramp to make sure the
tags are 100% correct first time

As you say, the deleting of mp3's may cause problems for some people so
can understand why its not there
