You can always use the webUI at http://<your-server-IP>:9000 I have the "second head" of my server's video card connected to my DLP via HDMI cable (which is about 30ft long.. be sure to check froogle.com for prices; I think I paid about US$25 for the cable.)
I then use an Adesso 2.4 GHz keyboard (http://www.adesso.us/index.php/en/home/keyboards/89-wkb-4000us) that has a much longer (and non-line-of-sight) range than the "usual" IR wireless keyboards.
