Is it possible that the receiver (Duet) connected to squeezenetwork (or whatever they are calling it today)? If you go to the web page for your internal server, do you see the receiver listed? I believe if it is connected to squeezenetwork, the web page will still show the player with an indication that it is connected to squeezenetwork.
I think you can also log into squeezenetwork and see what players are connected there. You mention that the lights cycle through on the receiver.
