This could occur if your server is underpowered, or if it is busy doing other things. Then the delay you're experiencing is simply the time it takes for the server to get around to responding to your request. It could also occur if your home network isn't very solid, but if that were the case you would notice stuttering in the music. What are the specs on your server, and what else does it do besides run SBS?
