Thanks Erland, that was the post. Seeing what thread it was under, it's
no wonder I couldn't track it down again.

I was thinking in terms of Vortex box doing all of the heaving lifting
for development and support and Logitech would OEM it and slap a
Logitech logo on it. Though they would then want it to be piano black
and have some funky shape too.

Erland, you make a good point that once you have a keyboard, mouse, and
require a screen you've morphed the appliance into yet another computer.
I was thinking of those things as optional, part of an upgrade
package.

If there was a way to deal with dbPowerAmp via a web page, that would
be ideal. That also eliminates the need for KDE and WINE. I think
they have set the bar regarding CD ripping, so anything that doesn't
include AccurateRip will always be second best IMO. If somehow that
could be incorporated into VortexBox, then I think they would have the
whole package. But I'm sure we aren't talking the sort of volume that
would make any sense for Illustrate to provide custom software to
Vortex box for this purpose.

VortexBox, as it is, is a bit of a niche product. What I'm talking
about would make it even moreso.

The fact of the matter is that as-is, the Vortex box IS a PC in an
appliance's clothing, so its functionality could always be expanded
down the line if it made sense.
