I switched from a WRT54GL which worked perfectly, to a WRT160N v3 which also works perfectly. Since the WRT54 already worked so well, I can't say that I see any improvement with my Squeezeboxen, but at least my 802.11g mobile phone loads web pages much faster now. I'm using the newest DD-WRT on all my wireless routers. I've got a Boom and a Duet, all running wirelessly less than 10 meters from the AP.
