That's correct. If you are only after playback, however, you might not have to wait that long since there are already a few alternatives:
1. Open "http://<your server>:9000/stream.mp3" in the Safari browser. You can start the stream, put it in the background (yes, QuickTime can multitask) and then you can control it through the Web Interface, iPeng,... 2. The iPhone App "SqueezeCast" works on iPad, too.
