Hostnames.

No, only on the LAN.

I use dnsmasq on the gateway machine as the DNS server on the home
LAN.  It provides DNS resolving for the DHCP clients.

Hm... what I want is basically to play an MP3 file that is the result of
curl against a streaming service, run by crontab on a debian box.

Perhaps there is a simpler solution than "faking" a podcast?
