When you called Logitech, did you ask for a replacement part, or did you
say your remote had broken?  I called and just said my remote had
broken, and they sent me a replacement for free as a "one time
courtesy".  I didn't argue with him - I'd have happily bought it, but I
hear (from you and others) that you can't.  Weird.

He needed some number that's on the bottom of Logitech SB's, and not
present on Slim SB's (it's a short text+numbers combo) - without that,
they can't do it, I think.
