There used to be a sticky thread in that forum that referred to this
forum but that only seems to be available in the locked area under
archive now:
http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Wireless-Music-Systems-READ-ONLY/bd-p/WMS_General
Due to this, this site will only be found through Google and similar
search engines or through references from friends who have introduced
you to the Squeezebox concept.
I think of it like this:
forums.logitech.com:
- Users with problem and want to get help from Logitech
- Users that want to complain on Logitech
- New users (since they won't find this site unless they use Google)
forums.slimdevices.com:
- Beta testing
- Third party stuff
- Users that want the community to help them with a problem
- Getting feedback from existing users before purchase (Assuming you
find this site, but it's before the logitech.com site in Google)
There are a few Logitech developers still reading the slimdevices.com
forum and a few of them are also posting on daily basis. However, they
are developers and not support staff, so most discussions they are
participating in are related to beta testing or future features.
It's getting pretty clear to me that Logitech would like to handle
people with problems primarily through their official support channel
and secondary through the logitech.com forum web site. So they probably
don't want the slimdevices.com forum site to be filled with unhappy
users, this is just the place where they temporarily have accepted that
beta testing and discussions regarding future features happen. I'm
guessing that they would like to have everything under a logitech.com
domain name but they can't justify the cost of moving this site at the
moment, instead they would prefer that users step by step move to the
logitech.com site by themselves, starting with people which have
problems and needs support. That way the slimdevices.com site can
eventually be shutdown.
So to summarize it:
- If you have a problem, goto forums.logitech.com
- If you want to discuss future features, third party stuff or just
have a quick question, stay here
Users with problems, should really try the logitech.com forum site.
