I've been running the Radio as a "clock radio" for quite a while now. I run a Squeezeboxserver 24/7, and my alarm sound is a local .mp3. Before that, I used one of the "sound effects" which actually is served through mysqueezebox.com, and the reliability of the alarm was poor. Since changing to local (SBS hosted) alarm sounds, the reliability has been 100%. A fair amount of effort has gone on in software and firmware to improve the alarm reliability as well. In general, if you always use Squeezeboxserver, your alarms will probably be very reliable... if you depend on Mysqueezebox.com for alarms, you are asking for trouble.
