The major issue is not whether DHCP is good. Problems arise if more than one DHCP "server" lurks on your (intra)network. Most will agree that it's a good idea to assign your squeezeboxserver machine to a static or "not automatic" address. This means all your "players" will always find the tunes, regardless of what order things are turned-on-off-on-off. That said, DHCP is wonderful in that it's automatic BUT make sure all your REGULAR/USUAL computers and etc. are turned-on and working (can you say "completely" test?) before adding "ANY" new device. This includes any strange laptop that might connect... Life can be simple. P -- pski real stereo makes the lights dim on the bass notes. (this means your amp could also use it's own circuit.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pski's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15574 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82166 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
