Depends on your exact wording. The SB1 could only play MP3 and PCM/WAV,
but the SqueezeBoxServer would automatically decompress FLAC on the fly
and send the PCM to the SB1. Worked great wired. With WiFi, it was
marginal. The decompressed PCM data took up twice the bandwidth of the
FLAC, and the SB1 had a very limited buffer space.

The SB2 and later versions could accept flac directly, and had buffers
at least twice as big. This effectively gave the SB2 four times the
buffer space, so WiFi usage was a lot more reliable.

Since the SB1 could not do anything without a server, and the server
automatically handled flac files, one could say that the SB1 music
system worked fine on flac files.
