There is also the simplest "plugin": take a cable with 3.5mm male mini-plugs on each end (like the one that ships with the Boom), plug one end into the Boom's line in and plug the other end into the laptop's headphone out. You probably need to set the Boom's line in volume higher than the default 50%. This bypasses SBS completely and simply uses the Boom as some very nice powered speakers for your laptop.
