If we have SB1s, we have to run WEP networks, right? It would require a
separate wireless network for SB1s and SB2s to allow WPA?

Basically it is just stronger excryption than WPA.
However, WPA, (unlike the older WEP standard) is still secure. So it is
not strictly necessary to upgrade from WPA to WPA2/AES. Also it is an
optional part of the 802.11g spec, thus not all (or even most?) 802.11g
devices support it.
