Thanks for your replies I've not tried changing / checking whether it's AAC or WMA just yet.
I have some other information for you. I was using Last.fm streaming service and the same thing happened as I originally wrote about with BBC. Two players (1xBoom and 1xSB3, both wireless) were playing downstairs fine, but the one (SB3, wireless) upstairs appeared (by the display) to be playing, but not actually playing anything. I have a small spectrum whilst playing, and there was no movement on the display of spectrum. Only way I can bump it back into life is either to wait until it kicks back into life or turn off and back on again. Many thanks for your help so far.
