A good rule of thumb regarding the direction of inheritance of playlists, for adding more players to sync, etc. : The player you sync "from" (the one you are controlling atm) inherits the playlist. Using the same logic it's easy to understand how to add more players. Ok, it's perhaps not intuitive but it is very clear and logical once you know it. This way it is also logical that you can desync a single player from a bunch of synced players while allowing them to continue playing.
