Have you looked into Home Plugs, e.g. devolo? I struggled with wireless (house is over 4 floors) for an age, tried moving the hub around etc., then discovered them and haven't looked back. 100% reliable, fit and forget, plus you can fit a wireless repeater to make sure you get a solid connection on your iPhone.
