I just got the error today for the first time, on a newly-purchased Squeezebox Radio. I'm a former XM plugin user; I've been using the official app since SiriusXM changed things a few weeks back; I have never got the error on either SqueezePlay or my SB3 (which I believe does WMA without transcoding).
