Congrats on building a new house! Very cool that you were able to set
up audio throughout using squeezeboxes.

I have an iPod Touch and use iPeng on it to control my squeezeboxes.
It works really well and never gives me a problem. As garym pointed
out, if you search the forums you'll find an overwhelming number of
people that are happy with iPeng. The alternatives have their
supporters too.

Any you pick should, as you say, "work, work, work". It will probably
be personal perference as to which on you perfer. iPeng seems to be
considered a more "advanced" interface - i.e. you can do more with it
at the cost of some usability. The other (sorry, I don't know the name
of it, squeemote?) is said to be more intuitive to use.

I have a squeezebox controller from the Duet, which obviously supports
all squeezebox features. I have yet to find something I wanted to do
with iPeng that I could only do with the squeezebox controller.

My favorite feature of iPeng is it has an option to list albums in
release year order! Logitech hasn't fixed this bug in their software
for years.

iPeng will also act as a squeezebox player, which is a cool feature.
