An Atom CPU with Intel GMA X3150 isn't a good choice for movies. The graphics are somewhat crippled.
For document editing I'm not sure a netbook is a good choice. They're more difficult to type on due to the undersized keyboards and a 10" screen is pretty small for text. If you have young eyes it may work OK, but otherwise reading glasses are a must. The 600px vertical resolution on the small screens is the biggest hindrance. It means not much of a web page or document can be seen and a lot more vertical scrolling is necessary. The biggest attractions of netbooks, as I see them: - Very small and lightweight, so great portability. - Great battery life. - Low cost. If those aren't higher priorities than things like being able to watch hi res movies, or being able to work comfortably for hours editing documents, then you might reconsider. A netbook (actually, slightly larger than most) that I'm looking forward to is the 'ASUS Eee PC 1215B' (http://www.starbytecomputers.com/blog/2011/03/asus-eee-pc-1015b-1215b-amd-brazos-based-netbooks-unveiled/5350/). The AMD Brazos platform has _much_ better graphics than the Intel Atom with NM10 chipset and GMA 3150 graphics. Also has more max memory capability and this model has a 12" screen. The drawbacks are that it will be more expensive, the dual-core CPU and larger screen will mean less battery life and it will be a bit heavier than a 10" netbook. -- JJZolx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86433 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
