There a reason for this when the controller sets up an sbr it forms an
ad-hoc wifi conection directly to that yet unconfigured reciever and is
no longer conected to the normal wifi ap or your network.

If you somehow did that ( if an app is even allowed to manipulate the
andriod phones wifi settings ) with your andriod thing all other apps
would loose internet conection.
Will this work with all different phones and tablets to change the wifi
settings for it on the fly and then back again ?

I think flatterman opted for a safe way that he can test properly and
that is likely to work on everything.
Factory reset the sbr conect it wired let dhcp asign it an ip address.
Now it has the blue ligth and is possible to reach from your normal
network, do you settings remove cable if needed reboot the sbr.

The problem is to recreate the special piont to piont conection
controller can do on all andriod devices and be able to verify that it
works ?
