In my opinion you'd be much, much better off with an SB2 (or later), but if it's a SB1 you want, here's my advice.
I think the key question is which newer units do you want to sync with the SB1? Those all have minimum slimserver/SqueezeCenter/Squeezebox Server release levels that you will have to satisfy. For example, with a Duet you can't go any earlier than 7.0.x, but with an SB2 or SB3/Classic you can go back as far as 6.0.x. See the bottom row in this table: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Hardware_comparison Sync'ing for most players got a lot better with 7.3.0, but I'm not sure if that applies to the SB1. Also, if your concern is resource demand on the server, 7.6.0 will go back to SQLite as the database engine, making it more suitable for underpowered servers than the MySQL-based releases, which are 6.5.x through 7.5.x. Finally, with the SB1s small buffer and 802.11b wireless, be sure to use wired ethernet if at all possible. -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87045 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
