How is the music set up on your Mac? Is it on your internal drive or on
an external one?

The simple answer is that what you want *should* be automatic if you
are playing music from the internal drive. Energy Saver is supposed to
kick in after a period of time without mouse or keyboard access OR READ
OR WRITE ACCESS TO THE HARD DRIVE.

I say "should" and "supposed" because on some Macs (nobody had a
definitive answer as to whether it is software or peripheral that
causes problems), the Mac simply does not go to sleep at the assigned
time even when the conditions are met.

I ran into this issue, and used a third-party program to make my Mac
sleep. But this (and other similar programs) rely on mouse or keyboard
access only and ignore hard drive access. So I had to find a solution
to keep the Mac awake when music was being played.

If you look in the very long thread for my posts and nearby replies to
them, you will find answers. But the developer produced a simpler
approach by a plugin called Really Prevent Standby (probably without
the spaces). Try to find that.
