There are several ways of avoiding the back-and-forth: - Upgrade the local server to 7.7.0. - Keep the local server at 7.6.1, but disable software updates at Settings > Advanced > Software Updates. - Keep the local server at 7.6.1, allow the players to be updated to 7.7.0 firmware (when connected to mysqueezebox.com), but do not allow them to reload 7.6.1 firmware.
