I'll be trying to look into it again, but it will be very difficult to
debug, as I cannot reproduce it here.

Basically what happens is the following: 

the server sends a pause command which I hand over to your iPad. In the
same instant the server also sends the command to set the volume to 0
(this is how Squeezeboxes instantly go silent, even though the buffer
still plays some bytes) which I send to iOS as well.

Now leaving the iPad at a volume of 0 is not very nice, which is why I
set the volume back to the original value a second later. It looks like
the pause command (via AirPlay) is slower than a second (while the
volume changes react instantly).
So is why you then still hear some tiny sound and I actually don't know
how to overcome it?
