In web design CSS text-shadow is used not only for shadow effect but also for shiny emboss effects etc. In this case there is a lot of text with white CSS text-shadow on a white background, but that is still rendered. This effect is only visible on quoted text that has yellow background and text looks embossed ... And CSS hower effect in this case adds slight gradient background to some elements when they are hovered with pointer and causing to re-render element/page. I think that removing these two things would allow mobile site to render faster on mobile devices.
