The issue is more widespread than just the Jive interface, it's a general API issue where offering a third party API often isn't a priority. However, to give them some credit, they have done some things on the server side with the "onebrowser" API and new scanner API introduced in 7.6 which was a step in the right direction for third party add-ons.
