I have an unusual network configuration that I'm planning and, since I won't be able to revert if this doesn't work, I wanted to get confirmation before I attempt this.
I'm switching from DSL to FIOS (fiber to the home) shortly. Part of that switch involves changing the incoming network point-of-presence from the current "any phone jack" of DSL to the point at which the fiber enters the home. Rewiring to add an ethernet line between the old and new POPs is a very expensive option. Since I'm on the Slim Devices forum, you can probably guess that I'm going to try to use a Squeezebox (SB2 in this case) in bridging mode. However, the new network topology would be using the SB2 wireless interface to connect to the fiber router and the wired interface to connect to the computer running SlimServer. The computer running SlimServer would then be using the SB2 to bridge over to the fiber router for access to the rest of the network. Anyone done this? Is it possible? If not, I'll end up putting a separate wireless bridge in the room and connect the SB2 with the wired interface. However, the combination of WPA2 (which is still sort of rare on consumer bridges) and the fact that I wanted a SB2 in that room anyway made this an attractive idea. -- Ron Palmer _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
