The squeezebox on its own successfully down converts higher sample rates to 24/96, and I have no problems. The JRiver-Whitebear-squeezebox combination, on the other hand, has considerable problems with the larger files: they stutter to the point of being unplayable. As I said, I can tell JRiver to convert the file but it then converts everything all the way down to 48hz. I can't figure out how to get it to convert the large files only to 96, and yes, I've tried the DSP studio settings.
I'm skeptical that the highest sample rates will make a difference, but I'd want the files to be at least playable.
