I've read a good part of that full blown technical manual. Unfortunately that block diagram just says "I2S" or "S/PDIF". Reading the technical manual on the chip shows that there are clock inputs along with the I2S and S/PDIF outputs that can be used to sync the outputs to an external clock. This is essential to good audiophile use. So I need to know if those inputs are actually on the EDM connector. I'm a bit skeptical because many other interfaces have left off such things and just included the outputs.
Fortunately with all the pins on the connector they have room to include almost all the IO pins on the chip, which hopefully means they actually included them. That's the level of detail I'm trying to find out. From reading posts on the forum it looks like they might just be connecting all the IOs to the connector, which is a good thing. It looks like this has been a closed group of companies working on this interface because I have not found a thing on the spec out there. I hope they get that released soon. If this thing really does what it sounds like, it will make this project much simpler and quicker to get things going.
