I doubt that this is any kind of localized network problem since this
was brought to my attention by yet another person with the same issue.
He and I are also both on the east coast.

Good to know that it isn't out everywhere, but no idea what the common
issue might be at this point.

It may be a situation where people roll off after a certain amount of
time.
