In order to do balanced will take more than one DAC chip. That brings up how this is to be done. If I use two chips, and have them feed the XLR, do I run one of them to the RCAs in parallel, or have three DAC chips, one for RCA and two for balanced. Or do we have just one on the board going to RCAs and any other configuration done with daughter boards. I'm leaning towards the daughter board concept, it keeps the base configuration simple, then we can come up with multiple add on boards, such as balanced, multi-channel etc, I2S over LVDS etc. But then we have to come up with a back panel that has a removeable cover plate where the daughter board connectors go. It's definately not going to happen in Gen0.5, but certainly worth looking at for Gen1.
