The fact is that "SqueezeBox" is a trademark. If it were to be used by the community for the time being, with Logitech seeming to be ambivilent about it, there is nothing to say that Logitech would not at some point in the future, sell IP to a third party, (including the trademark), and that someone else wouldn't try to enforce. It would be extreme folly to go down that path, "branding" any project or product (regardless of whether it is not-for-profit) with a trademark not owned by the people using it. The legal advice was not to do this even if it were with the "official" permission of Logitech.
