In addition to what Jackofall mentioned, remember there are two phases:
csp1 which is a beta test, only a small number will be made and csp2
which will be a general release. Csp1 is going to just be a carrier
board, the users will need to buy a wandboard, case, PS etc. and
assemble the pieces themselves. The CPU module from the wandboard will
need to be swapped to the csp1 carrier. The only tool needed is a
screwdriver and maybe pliers if you want to use wifi.

Exactly how csp2 is going to be distributed has not been completely
worked out yet. We would like to make available several options, such as
a kit and a fully assembled box. We might be able to offer the carrier
board by itself, or maybe a complete kit with all the pieces from one
place, or some intermediate method, we don't know exactly how this is
going to work out yet. It's going to take some time to get all this
worked out. We are trying to come up with multiple options so someone
can get parts and do the final assembly themselves, thus saving some
money, or spend a little more to get the fully assembled box. We are not
trying to be secretive, the details simply have not been worked out yet,
there are no concrete details at this point.

So IF you are planning on being on the csp1 beta test group you will
definitely need to purchase your own wandboard, the dual model. If you
plan on using wifi you will need the antenna, the csp1, will NOT use the
wandboard plastic case, it is using a specific Hammond aluminum
extrusion case. The power supply used for a wandboard will be usable
for csp1. Be careful, some wandboard distributors include a PS, many do
not. Csp1 will include a micro USB port as a power port, you can use
either the barrel or the USB port for power (just not both at the same
time)

If you get a wandboard now, can you reuse it's cpu for later releases?
Maybe, we don't know yet whether we will be releasing the later products
without cpu modules.

BTW there is no official beta group yet, no official "list". When csp1
is getting closer to being available we will do that. So don't start
trying to jockey for position in the list just yet, any such requests
are going to be ignored (at least by me) at this point. I want to focus
my attention on getting boards designed and working first.

For everybody, please be patient, this project is being worked on in
people's spare time, it's going to take some time to get the different
pieces of this done correctly. I know a lot of you are excited about
this, but don't expect a finished product immediately, there is a lot to
do and it IS going to take some time to get it all done.
