Cheers Michael I think I'll get the asus - most NAS devices that are standalone are too expensive for my needs and the cheaper ones (such as the slug) have some issues (mainly slow browsing and start up)- I dont really mind running the PC when I need it. I know how to mount things such as hard drives and CD drives so a network share should be ok. Thanks for the help Jono
