I know it sounds impossible. For the longest time, I held the same beliefs as the rest of you until I plugged the Supra CAT 7 cable in. The difference is not subtle. You don't need to try hard to tell the difference in sound. Some of my friends reported much richer harmonics with the Supra CAT 7 cable. And when I removed the wifi card inside my Transporter and use the Supra cable, the improvement is far greater than expected. So far, I found that different LMS server hardware sound differently and whether it is on wifi or wired LAN and the HDD attached to LMS also affects the sound. I know someone who prefers the sound from a SSD than a 2.5" portable USB HDD. I haven't attached a SSD on my LMS to find out how it sounds, but I did try a USB thumb drive and the sound was indeed different than using a 2.5" USB HDD. I'm using a Pogoplug as LMS server. This is somewhat related to this project, as my finding indicates that it is best to use a platform without wifi if you want max sonic quality. Since JS is so critical with the DAC carrier board, the presence of wifi on the Wandboard is going to compromise the sound of the DAC. So my question is: can the wifi and bluetooth chips be disabled (ie: powered down) on the Wandboard? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kuro's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16701 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97881 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
