My in-ceiling project is coming along quite nice. Ive built the amplifier and power supply from bits I had laying around. The power supply might be a bit of overkill but its better to have one that is capable of delivering a bit more power than required The amplifier is built around the TDA2040 chip http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/stmicroelectronics/1460.pdf
In the picture below you see the amplifiers power supply, the amplifier and the Wandboard. [image: http://imageshack.us/a/img43/2205/20130528communitysqueez.jpg] I finally chose to use a relays instead of an SSR (just because I still had the parts laying around for that). The power supply is mounted on a piece of wood and does not really require an enclosure. Once it sits behind the ceiling no one will notice that anymore '[image: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2205/20130528communitysqueez.jpg]' (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/22/20130528communitysqueez.jpg/) Below is the schematic of the trigger driver electronics. The left part resides in the Wandboard enclosure and the right part resides on the amplifiers power supply board. The relay simply switches the mains power to the transformer. '[image: http://img547.imageshack.us/img547/9448/schematictriggerwrelais.jpg]' (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/547/schematictriggerwrelais.jpg/) It is all tested and it works fine. Now I need to find the time to build all this in the bedroom ceiling. This system will replace my Squeezebox Radio I currently use there. The SBR will be used for portable applications such as the garden (it has a battery). For those of you who are interested, Im using DC101 speakers from Artsound: http://artsound.be/en/products/loudspeakers/p/detail/dc101 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pascal Hibon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7969 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98834
