SB3 supports 24/48khz so it's at least 24 bits . A Touch or Transporter also have better spdif outputs with lower jitter etc.
But realistically if you use it as transport to a decent DAC I doubt you can actually hear the difference under controlled cicumstances ( abx or ab blind test ) , neither the jitter or sample rate . An interesting experiment to do is to downsample 24/96 or similar to lower rates and test that need controlled circumstances you mighty be surprised ( or not ) . However a Touch may work better electrically there is also noise etc to consider . But I think it's a bit wishfull thinking to just assume that having a 24/96 or 24/192 capable streamer will make a huge difference . With triodes EDO plugin you can actually get 192k out of a Touch :) a neat feature . You do get rid of the server resampling this can use a lot of resources if you run the server on a nas or other small CPU . Some nas or similar does not support resampling at all . This s a very tangible improvement . -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
