Sorry to clarify, is it the optical port flashing red or a light near it. It wasn't a squeezebox but I had a Roku Sound bridge where the PSU measured OK when there was no load, but dropped right down as soon as any load was applied, swapping the PSU resolved the issue, just a thought but worth checking the supply voltage when plugged in if you can.
