Do these boxes have WiFi? I think I'm restricting MAC retrieval to the WiFi card, which might be the reason it is not detecting anything (and also not saving to the prefs file). The setting does look like this <string name="mac">40:b0:fa:c6:a7:80</string> put it somewhere along the other strings. Remember to kill the App via the Android settings first, otherwise the App restart won't read this file.
