Yes data points are needed ,that actually helps .

So it's not a general bug then .

A way forward .

Try another playlist of similar size 

Remove the playlist do a playlist scan , and then add the playlist again
do a playlist scan when it fails it should be something in the log files
.

Open a working playlist and the failed one with a text editor and have a
look if something is different ?

My 0.02$ there is something wrong with the playlist or the playlist
points to a file which makes the scanner crash .
